Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 80/20 for flavor
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper diced
  • 1 medium carrot diced
  • 1 medium potato diced
  • 1 cup peas frozen or fresh
Spices and Seasoning
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Method
 

Cooking the Picadillo
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and bell pepper, sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned.
  5. Mix in diced carrot, potato, peas, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour in tomato sauce, stir well, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve hot.
