Ingredients
  

Dumpling Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
Blackberry Filling
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently to coat the berries and set aside.
Make the Dumpling Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Cook the Dumplings
  1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the boiling water. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer.
  3. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until dumplings are fluffy and cooked through.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a separate saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until thickened.
Serve
  1. Serve the dumplings warm, topped with the blackberry filling and sauce.
