Ingredients
  

Doughnut Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frying
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Shape the Doughnuts
  1. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Use a cookie cutter to cut out doughnut shapes.
Fry the Doughnuts
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully place the doughnuts in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Finish and Serve
  1. Dust the warm doughnuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes
