  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup hot water boiling
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

Prepare the Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Gradually add the hot water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a thick batter forms.
Cook the Cornbread
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Spoon the batter into the hot oil, forming small patties.
  3. Fry until golden brown on one side, then flip and cook the other side.
  4. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.
