Spiced Caramelized Apple Filling
Crunchy Butter Pecan Oat Streusel
Warm Serving Finishes

Method

Tossing the Apples
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch ceramic baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until every slice is glossed in spiced syrup.
  3. Transfer apples into the prepared baking dish and gently press into an even layer.
Assembling the Oat Streusel
  1. In a separate mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, dark brown sugar, chopped pecans, cinnamon, and sea salt.
  2. Pour in the melted butter and stir with a fork until moist, clumpy streusel crumbs form.
  3. Scatter the oat streusel evenly over the apples, completely covering the fruit with generous crunchy clusters.
Baking to Golden Perfection
  1. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 38 to 42 minutes until the topping is deeply golden-brown and the sweet apple juices are bubbling vigorously along the edges.
  2. Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes to allow the fruit juices to set and thicken slightly.
  3. Spoon warm crisp into bowls, top immediately with a generous scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, drizzle with salted caramel, and enjoy!
