Method
Prepare the Strawberries
- Wash and hull the strawberries, then chop them into small pieces.
- Place the chopped strawberries in a large pot.
Cook the Jam
- Add the sugar and lemon juice to the pot with strawberries.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture comes to a boil.
- If using pectin, add it according to package instructions once boiling.
- Continue to boil for about 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Jar the Jam
- Remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Using a ladle and canning funnel, pour the hot jam into sterilized jars.
- Seal the jars and let them cool to room temperature.
